Week 25 notes and thoughts

Reflective writing'

                 Remember to use what
you have learnt to look                   forward

LOOKING BACK - ANALYSING-PROJECTING INTO THE FUTURE
PAST EVENTS - IN CONTEXT OF OTHER EVENTS AND LEARNING
USEFUL REFLECTION = THOUGHTS  ABOUT EVENT DURING/AFTER/SINCE/ HOW DID YOU FEEL  WHY/HOW/SO WHAT
DESCRIPTION ONLY TO PUT REFLECTION IN PERSPECTIVE
HINDSIGHT = LEARN FORM EXPERIENCE TO CHANGE THNGS IN THE FUTURE.
LEARNING - APPLY TO SIMILAR SITUATIONS - ADAPTED TO FUTURE SITUATIONS
WRING EVERY LAST DROP OF LEARNING OUT OF AN EXPERIENCE

 Reflective Practice
 What -so what-now what
What does it mean/ why is it important/ what am i going to do differently or the same as a result.

This I agree with - time always an issue.
In assignments - faking it before hating it, can fake it really well
intellectual affective activity - feeling thing more than a thinking thing- trigger for analytical what went wrong.
analysis, thinking, feeling - what people do
Shared reflection more effective supported by evidence.; better outcomes for students/parents not really supported by evidence.
Reflection does improve self-assessment. intellectual discussion etc helps assess your reflection.

Differing models: Iterative model/ vertical model - start at bottom with habitual actions. thoughtful action/understanding, as I do things engaging in meta level thought - what am i doing, well, unusual, should I do this/that. Thoughtful action. Reflection: think through how did i go, what went well, how could I do it better next time. Critical reflection; what are main themes, what can I improve. rationalize away our flaws with excuses, tired, busy etc instead of what I can improve. Me reflecting about stuff i do what a dialogue with me - people have studied and written about these - if all i do is reflect will I go to this and try and learn more.

To make it work
minutes note hours, few short notes
have a quick chat with someone else -
share it ( this is evidence based
Structured - form, paper with a line
Ideas for improvement
scholarly - find things that can help you improve
peer learning groups/ peer learning practice

Etienne Wenger - Landscape of practice
Each of community has a hill of competence - walking along a landscape in life/ you can go up the hill or not - meet a new community choose how you go into it.
Your sense of who you are makes you accountable to your system of knowing. Knowing is a way of locating yourself in the world today- where do you want to be?

Reflective blogging
